Three-Paycheck Months Calculator
If you are paid every two weeks, two months a year hand you a third paycheck. Enter any payday and see exactly which months they are.

Why some months have three paychecks
A biweekly schedule pays you 26 times a year, but a year only has 12 months. If every month held exactly two paydays, that would account for 24 checks. The two left over have to land somewhere, so twice a year a month contains three paydays instead of two. In years where a payday lands on January 1st or 2nd, the chain can even squeeze in a third bonus month. Any month with 30 or 31 days that starts a paycheck cycle on the 1st or 2nd will fit a third one in before it ends.
The same arithmetic gives weekly earners four months with five paychecks, since 52 paydays cannot spread evenly across 12 months either. People paid twice a month on fixed dates, for example the 15th and the last day, get exactly 24 checks and never see a bonus month.
Which months are yours depends on your specific chain of paydays, not just the weekday. Two people both paid on alternating Fridays can have different three-paycheck months, because their chains are offset by one week. That is why the calculator asks for a real payday instead of a weekday.

Is the third paycheck really extra?
Only if your bills are funded by the other two. A third paycheck feels like free money right up until you remember that the months around it still hold the same rent, the same insurance, and the quarterly bill that picked this exact moment to arrive. The month is only a bonus when every bill already knows which paycheck it comes out of.
That is the entire idea behind Atom Budget. Every income and expense carries its real schedule, and the app works out what each paycheck must set aside so the bills are funded before the money feels spendable. When a three-paycheck month arrives, you see exactly how much of it is genuinely yours.
